Liminal Spaces (on-going series)

This series of drawings is a continuous investigation where each piece is contingent upon the next. Each piece is inspired by the evolution of plant growth cycles, this being a trope for our own growth both as individuals and as a cultural collective. Each new bloom will eventually makes way for the next.
My intension is for the work to unravel in front of the viewer offering a sense of renewal, harmony,
and contradiction, where things are built and deconstructed simultaneously.

In a visually stimulating culture we are allowed many reads on one image. Directed by the visual author, we as individuals glean what we can from this over exposure. Reminiscent of a T.V or computer screen on multiple channels, my intention (with this piece) is to produce a simultaneously overwhelming and calming experience for the viewer. My desire is to play in between the land of abstraction and realism. Where the segmented figure offers a sense of hidden exposure or voyeurism. In this way, I create a liminal state between the conscience and unconscious mind.
